Dust Devil Race #2

Last Saturday I rode the Estrella race. The course is a lot of fun, but not very race friendly.

I surprised myself with my time. I had to hurry in the morning, I was convinced I was going to be late. So I didn't really eat or drink what I had planned. So I rolled up to the start already feeling dehydrated and tired (didn't get much sleep), and decided I was just going to do my round and call it a day.

About ten minutes into the race I was feeling pretty good, I tackled some obstacles that I had trouble with during the practice, and seemed to remember my lines really well. There weren't a lot of people racing, so the course didn't get as clogged up as I thought it would at the technical areas, so I got a fair chance at almost everything.

The first practice round last weekend I did the entire course and did it in about 1:30:00, which is better than last year's best time, so I was happy. On Sunday, just the long loop, the time was 1:12:00, so I was very happy. I ended up in the race with a time of 1:14:00 for the entire thing, and did not expect that at all. It was good for first place.
